1990future is a Toronto-based, five piece indie alternative/modern rock band. They deliver a tasty punch of power-pop that draws influence from 1990’s alternative rock and pop culture, with musical shades of Smashing Pumpkins, The Pixies, David Bowie, Led Zeppelin, Lou Reed and Neil Young. Featuring Brodie Christ on vocals and guitar, Sean Advent on lead guitar, Kevin Hutchinson on guitar, Mark Volk on bass and Eric Deline on drums, listeners are guaranteed a wall of face-melting guitar and a pounding rhythm section.

1990future’s discography includes two releases: their first, a self-titled six-song disc, and a three-song EP entitled “Roll On”. Various videos that companion their tracks showcase the band’s wry wit and passion for pop culture, notably the video for Youth Curse, which features a lo-fi homage to the ‘chicken scene’ in the iconic Kevin Bacon film Footloose.

A mainstay of Toronto rock clubs, they have played over twenty venues, including The Legendary Horseshoe Tavern, el Macambo, Velvet Underground and the Cameron House as well as Toronto festivals NXNE and Canadian Music Week. Driven to make music mostly to distract from a fear of death and perhaps as an alternative to self-medication, 1990future only care about connecting with their audience, whether through a rhythm, riff, turn of phrase or ‘questionable’ banter. When they’re not rocking the kids, you’ll find them hanging out in kitchens, ‘cause duh, that’s where the party’s at.
